Punjab STI Contract Extension 2026 – Latest Update

The Punjab Government is considering extending the contracts of around 25,000 School Teacher Interns (STIs) working in government schools across the province.

The existing STI contracts expired on May 22, 2026. The Punjab Education Department has prepared and forwarded a proposal to the Chief Minister of Punjab seeking approval for the contract extension.

If approved, STIs will be able to continue their teaching services and help address teacher shortages in government schools.

Important: The extension has not yet been officially confirmed. The proposal is currently awaiting approval.

STI teachers are advised to wait for an official notification from the Punjab Government or School Education Department before considering the extension final.
