Sweden Opens Applications for Autumn 2027 International Admissions — Apply by 15 January

Sweden has officially opened applications for the Autumn 2027 First Admissions Round, giving international students the opportunity to apply for Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes through the country’s centralized University Admissions system.

The application round opened on 16 October 2026, while the main application deadline is 15 January 2027. The First Admissions Round is specifically designed with international students in mind and offers the full catalogue of programmes taught in English.

For students outside the European Union/European Economic Area, applying through this earlier round can be particularly important because the admission decisions are released earlier, allowing successful applicants more time to arrange tuition payments, residence permits and accommodation before the autumn semester begins.

Sweden Autumn 2027 Admissions — Important Dates

  • Application round opens: 16 October 2026
  • Application deadline: 15 January 2027
  • Application fee/documentation deadline: 1 February 2027
  • Master’s admission results: 1 April 2027
  • Bachelor’s admission results: 8 April 2027
  • Autumn semester begins: August/September 2027

Why Pakistani Students Should Consider the First Round

The First Admissions Round is the recommended route for international students. It contains the complete catalogue of English-taught courses and programmes available for the autumn semester.

Applicants who require a Swedish residence permit also benefit from the earlier timeline. The later Second Admissions Round has an April deadline and may not leave non-EU/EEA students enough time to obtain a residence permit before the semester starts.

Important Requirements for Pakistani Applicants

Pakistani students should pay close attention to Sweden’s country-specific documentation requirements.

For Bachelor’s applicants, University Admissions states that an Intermediate Secondary School Certificate (ISSC) or Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) can meet the general entry requirement, subject to the specified documentation and verification requirements. Pakistani upper-secondary studies do not by themselves satisfy Sweden’s English-language requirement, so applicants need to demonstrate English proficiency through an accepted method.

For Master’s applicants, the general requirement is normally a 4-year Bachelor’s degree of at least 124 credits, or a Bachelor’s degree followed by a Master’s degree representing four years of study in total, subject to the detailed country-specific requirements.

Non-EU/EEA applicants who are required to pay the application fee should also note that the current application fee is SEK 900 per semester.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted through Sweden’s official centralized admissions platform. Students can search available Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, select their preferred options, rank them and submit the required documentation through the system.

Applicants should begin preparing their academic documents, English-language evidence and other supporting materials well before the January deadline. Pakistani applicants should also follow the specific document instructions published for Pakistan.

Application deadline: 15 January 2027

This makes Sweden’s Autumn 2027 admissions a timely opportunity for Pakistani students planning to study abroad in Europe next year.
